Prevention
How can anaemia be prevented?

Hypertension and type-2 diabetes are the commonest causes of chronic renal failure, which adds to renal anaemia. Regular blood tests by the general practitioner permit prompt diagnosis and treatment. Consult your doctor if you notice symptoms of anaemia, e.g. if you suffer for a prolonged period from tiredness, shortness of breath when climbing stairs or an irregular pulse.
